A young Canadian envelope salesman named William McCartney founded Regal in 1928. Intrigued with the idea of manufacturing his own greeting cards, he approached a small card company in Toronto. With the support of a 500 dollar investment from the woman who would later become his wife, he launched Regal the name she chose for the new venture. In 1993 Regal first became a public company on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In September of 1994, the company was 100% purchased by MDC Corporation Inc.

Regal Products

The Regal product line includes a flagship line of greeting cards and gift wrap, all of which is printed in Canada, as well as innovative items for home and personal use. All in all, there are more than 10,000 items, many of them unique problem solvers. Prices range from approximately 2 to 85 dollars per item. Approximately 10% of the product line has been designed for optional personalization (e.g. with the customer's name).
